Who are the Orange County Breakers? The Breakers are a professional World TeamTennis franchise located in Orange County, California that plays at the Newport Beach-based Palisades Tennis Club. The Breakers were founded in 2003 and won the 2004 and 2017 WTT Championships.
What is World TeamTennis? World TeamTennis, also know as WTT, is a professional tennis league co-founded by Billie Jean King in 1974. Former world No. 1 doubles player Ilana Kloss is the League’s CEO/Comissioner. The League currently has six teams including San Diego, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, New York, Springfield and Orange County. The 2021 season will consist of 14 matches for each team, with seven at home and seven on the road from July 11-July 25. The teams with the two best records will meet on July 25th to determine the 2021 WTT Champion.
Mylan WTT is one of only five professional United States pro sports leagues to have reached the 40th season milesone along with MLB, NHL, NFL and the NBA. Mylan WTT matches are often seen on national TV such as The Tennis Channel, ESPN2, ESPN3 and Comcast Sports Net. Some unique and innovative features of the League include multi-colored courts, a Draft, team scoring system and music in between points to name a few.
What is the format of a WTT match? Each match will consist of five sets, men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles. The first team to reach five games in each set will win the set. Scoring is no-ad and game scoring is 1, 2, 3, game. If a set goes to four-all, then a nine point tiebreaker is played to decide who wins the set. Each game won counts as one point in the team’s cumulative match score. Some other innovative rules include on-court coaching, lets are played, teams change sides after four games and extended play which is used in the case that the trailing team wins the final set. If the score is tied at the end of a match, a 13 point super tiebreaker is used to decide the winner of the match. More information on the rules can be found HERE.
How many players are on each team and what players have played WTT before? Teams typically consist of two men and two women, as well as a coach. The League has seen some of the most marketable and successful professional tennis players in the world play in WTT its 43 year history, including Billie Jean King, Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf, Pete Sampras, Maria Sharapova, Martina Hingis, Chris Evert, Jimmy Connors, Lindsay Davenport, the Williams sisters, Martina Navratilova, Kim Clijsters, Andy Roddick, Genie Bouchard, Bjorn Borg, Rod Laver, Mary Joe Fernandez, Victoria Azarenka, and the Bryan Brothers to name a few.
When is the 2021 WTT and Breakers season? The 2021 season will run from July 11-July 25.
Where will the Breakers play? The team will play all their home matches at Breakers Stadium at Palisades Tennis Club in Newport Beach, CA. Breakers Stadium will offer the perfect setting for watching world class tennis due to the intimate size and off-court fun. (Due to the current state of COVID-19; location for the 2021 season is TBA)

Does the team offer VIP tickets? Yes. The Breakers will offer private VIP tables directly off the baseline of the court. VIP tables seat four guests and come with in seat food and beverage service. Will the venue have concession options?Yes. Breakers Stadium at Palisades Tennis Club will sell food, beverages, alcohol and Breakers merchandise on court 7 behind sections 104/105.
When will the 2021 Breakers schedule be released? The Breakers 2021 schedule is still pending due to COVID-19
